Identify Your Gifts

God has blessed each of us with certain gifts and talents. We encourage you to invest some time in identifying what your gifts might be. Sometimes our gifts are evident to us, but often, it takes the thoughtful insight of those who know us well. Perhaps you could ask friends or family members what gifts they see in you. It may be helpful for your Sunday school class or small group to dedicate a few weeks to the process. For group study, one resource you might consider using is Each One a Minister: Using God's Gifts for Ministry by William J. Carter.

For individuals, there are also several free assessment tools available. An online spiritual gift assessment tool is available through umc.org. In addition, the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Kansas has made available a spiritual growth assessment tool titled, The Journey. This short assessment is designed to help you identify where you are in your spiritual journey so that you can make better choices to guide your growth.
