Texas Bishops Issues Joint Statement on Separation of Families

The Bishops of the five Annual Conferences in Texas issued a joint statement today (June 20) commending President Trump for signing an executive order that ends his administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy's practice of separating families caught entering the country illegally along the U.S.-Mexico border. Furthermore, each of the five bishops are urging their conferences and faithful Christians everywhere to contact their U.S. representative and senators and continue to express concerns for the separated children and to call for legislation that will keep children with their families.

This joint effort is believed to have the ability to make continued inroads on this matter. As you'll recall, the 2018 Central Texas Annual Conference overwhelmingly approved a resolution opposing the separation of children from their families and the establishment of tent cities along the southern Texas border.
