Five U.S. Jurisdictions Partner on Joint UMVIM Website

June 16, 2020

The five jurisdictional United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) offices are entering a new phase of collaboration with a new website. The website address, www.umvim.org, will include resources from all five jurisdictions in one place. Some of those resources will be consistent across the jurisdictions and some will be specific for each.

For many years, each jurisdictional UMVIM office operated separately, featuring its own website and information. This new website will ease the process for volunteers to gather resources and connect with the jurisdictional coordinators and with each other. The coordinators believe having one site for all will accomplish this goal and provide a more concise mission journey experience from team leader training to sharing the mission story.

This new website also offers a way for missioners and project site directors to work together to better serve volunteers, whether planning to serve on a mission journey, wanting to learn more about missions, or exploring helpful resources for studying or sharing with others. The hope of UMVIM leadership is that this new website will assist you with all aspects of mission service.

Una Jones, director of the Mission Volunteer Office (MVO) at the General Board of Global Ministries said, “I’m extremely proud of the collaboration of the five UMVIM jurisdiction coordinators who established a paradigm shift for the UMVIM community. I believe this new joint approach will enhance the mission service of all UMVIM networks, short-term teams and long-term individuals. The UMVIM jurisdictional coordinators have worked extremely hard and will continue to work towards future collaboration with the Mission Volunteer Office of Global Ministries.”
