Reflect & Reconnect - A New Faith Community WIG Video Narrative from FUMC Eastland

August 21, 2019

The laity of FUMC Eastland came to their pastor, Rev. Darrel Phillips, and asked what could be done...or better stated, what they could do to revive their Wednesday night gatherings so that they could better reach out to the community at large and revitalize the church in general. After much prayer and a few brainstorm meetings, Reflect and Reconnect was born.

Reflect and Reconnect – or R&R as it is more commonly known – was, and is, a leap of faith. The planning team knew they needed a praise band, but FUMC Eastland didn’t have one of those. Of course, they needed engaging speakers to share their testimonies, but from where would those people come? They didn't know, but they trusted that God would provide. And soon, due to the diligent work of Eastland UMC’s laity and the power and grace of the Holy Spirit, R&R grew from some humble beginnings to now having 70-100 regulars each week.

Please watch the following short video to learn how R&R is changing lives, revitalizing a church and community and living out our WIG of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. And, if after watching, you are so inspired to try something similar in your church but aren’t sure how to begin, please send an email to mikeramsdell@ctcumc.org or megwitmer-faile@ctcumc.org or anyone on the conference’s Evangelism, Mission and Church Growth team  (https://www.ctcumc.org/emcg).
