PT seeks a few more interns with a love of learning and serving God
Project Transformation Central Texas (PT) is in its third year of bringing college-aged interns and children together for a summer reading program. The benefits to the children are obvious, but how about the interns?

The program offers its own rewards to “young adults who find passion in learning and are looking to grow in leadership while exploring their calling,” said Cassie Samuelson, volunteer and community engagement coordinator.

“If you are a college-aged young adult looking for a place to serve God’s Kingdom this summer, Project Transformation is the place for you!” Cassie continued. “Apply now to come and see the transformations happening in Fort Worth communities and beyond.”

Applications are currently being accepted, but already 19 of the available 27 openings have been filled. Now’s the time to encourage potential candidates to apply before it’s too late. The first step in the application process is to simply click on the following link: https://projecttransformation.org/central-texas/our-programs/college-internships/apply-now.

There are three host churches in the Fort Worth area – Meadowbrook UMC, University UMC and Bedford FUMC. Other Central Texas churches provide support and volunteers, as well.

Cassie’s first experience with Project Transformation was in the North Texas chapter during the summer of 2016. She served as an elementary intern. Two years later, she spent the summer of 2018 with the Central Texas team as a program quality coach. She was a resource to the other interns on best practices, particularly involving behavior management with children, team communication skills and self-care tactics. She also helped interns see God in their work, in the children and in their daily lives.

Last September, Cassie was awarded the opportunity to further her experience with PT as a National Leadership Fellow for a year, allowing her to explore her vocation, become certified in nonprofit management and gain hands-on experience working with a nonprofit staff.

PT National placed her here in the Central Texas Conference, and she’s found this niche especially rewarding. “While every experience I’ve had with PT has been so meaningful,” she said, “I have truly come to understand and love the ministry that is being done during my time with PT Central Texas. The relationships I’ve developed with PT staff, CTC staff, volunteers, interns, kiddos and more have shown me that work is being done to further God’s Kingdom. I’m so blessed to be a part of it!”
