Jesus Table - A New CTC Video Narrative

November 13, 2019

At the core of what the clergy, laity and churches of the Central Texas Conference do lies our Wildly Important Goal of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our mission involves many ministries and many pathways into relationships with our local communities – and it’s the relationship with and in the local community that Central UMC has embraced with its Jesus Table ministry.

In ministries like the Jesus Table of Central United Methodist Church in Waco, TX, we see what an answer to the sometimes scary question, "What If?” What if our original idea for a downtown ministry is quite what the Holy Spirit had in mind for us? What if we had the courage and faith to follow where the Spirit leads us?

The Jesus Table is a ministry that employs something that Jesus himself used on many powerful occasions – the dinner table/sharing a meal. Jesus used the dinner table to befriend the stranger, to include those looked down upon by the society of that time.  This is something that Jesus Table efforts to emulate every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at "The Hangar" near downtown Waco. We can see what happens when we embrace our communities,  because IT IS HAPPENING via our local churches active involvement in our WIG initiative and through the power and guidance of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We are embracing our communities, and our communities ARE RESPONDING.
